Chapter 7
“Your Majesty, Are you alright?!“ (???)
Several
dragons and Dragon Knights descend to the ground and quickly form a protective
circle around the king staying high alert due to the dragons still encircling
the village and the most dangerous of them the Deathrock Dragon that they have,
amply named.
“Phillips, I
am fine Emelth is here as well and has already mediated on our behalf, also
every knight here search the village there is a young man searching for warm
clothing and food and water for the young dragons master please assist him do
not harm anyone in the process just make sure to find some…”
As the king
spoke another person interrupted… normally they would scowled at, but when they
saw it was a pregnant woman their annoyance instantly vanished…
“Ddragon-sama
I apologize for not speaking s…sooner, but I-I believe…ugh…I believe I may have
some clothes that would h...however while I would like to go get them I am
afraid…….. I am in no condition to do so cause……. My water just broke……however
my boy here should be able to show the way….” (Woman Villager)
The dragon
looked toward the woman saw that she was in quite the discomfort and then
looked towards the king…
“You’re
majesty, was it? I have no interest in an unborn child or its mother should you
feel the need to help her I will not stop you, however…”
The King for
a moment was in a daze for a moment when he had heard that…
“haa…what
timing little one…heck of a tension breaker. Remind me when get back to the
castle send a little gift to the family. Ah that’s right I apologize young
Dragon for not introducing myself my name is Thomas Ashbourne King of the
kingdom of Ashbourne, I apologize on behalf of everyone here for any transgressions
and will see to it that those responsible are duly punished… ~mumbling~ Hunh…
Jess…My little Jessy…no jess should be a full grown woman I mean when she left from
the palace she was a full grown young woman……….ah Phillips! Question every
villager I want to know who are that girls parents!” (Thomas)
The moment
the King said that the Dragon went on the defensive once more glaring at the
King and of course so to did the knights go on the defensive.
Ah…..Sorry,
sorry young I mean her no harm, actually if she IS who I think she is then I
swear here and now, I’ll spare no expense in making sure she is well fed and
ANY one responsible for her mistreatment will definitely feel the headsman’s
axe… for ya see if…well you see she resembles my daughter how ran away with one
of my knights and eloped. It is my fault I know, however I never wished for her
or her daughter harm… “(Thomas)
Thomas
stared toward Lily’s sleeping figure reminiscing about the days long past,
suddenly the Lt. Spoke up,
“I am sorry
to interrupt you; You’re Majesty however, if it is in reference to the girl
Lily I believe I can help…” (Lt)
“Hmm….and
who are you?”(Thomas)
The King turned
to face the Lt… The Lt. quickly salutes,
“I am First
Lt. Gabel of the gate
guard, you’re Majesty. I was acquainted with Lily’s father, I guess in a way
you could say we were friends, while I can’t say I knew her mother her father
how talked about a lot of thing and hinted as to where they were from
originally. Although I never did find out where they came from… He said he’d
tell the morning that tragedy happened…” (Lt)
“I, I see
thank you, so the father I take died, and if memory serves, any family member
who benefited from it… died how there was a sole survivor… then that sole
survivor would be Lily, Correct?” (Thomas)
At this
point the King was getting really angry, because due to that incident any
survivor of that incident was to be compensated for the loss of their loved ones
as well as provided for without question, the entire estate owned by the responsible
was to be assessed sold and over the course the Survivor’s life or next of kin
would receive the stipend, you could say until the amount of funds balanced,
but that money was not being used for the girl Lily as it was intended, then
what exactly was it being used for?
“Gabel was
it tell me who exactly is…I mean was in charge of this little girl prior to
this day?” (Thomas)
“Yes, You’re
Majesty, that would be the Elders, more specifically the Elder that the dragon
had singled out… however as far as I know all the elders handled the tasks of
caring for Lily except that is how it was supposed to be, but a few weeks ago
the elders decided to stop taking care of her and let her d…die come winter
when she came down with fever however when everyone aside from the Elder heard.
Many of the villagers were outraged by
the thought there were even some couples here who hadn’t been able to one of
their own that wished to accept her into their home, but the elders wouldn’t
have it saying anyone attempting to do so would be driven out of the village,
in which some still argued and then were immediately driven out, many here had
hoped they report it at the next town, even after a year no word ever came, it
was if those who left never made it to the next town… we guardsmen also wished
to help, but they’re too few of us and any able men after that incident and the
elders took advantage of that and took control of the weapons and a majority of
the food supply…” (Gabel)
The King
waved his signaling the Lt. to stop him, then he turned his gaze toward the
elders anger swelling in his heart…
“Phillips,
gather every last elder in this village right now leave dig out each and every one
of those snakes. Young dragon I owe you an apology while it may not appropriate
for me to say this, however I think now I should’ve let and at the same time
glad that I didn’t a mixed feeling sort of thing I assure you this though they
will beg for death long before I grant it to them…” (Thomas)
Right now
the king is seething with anger. The King takes a moment and then turns to
speak to the villagers.
“To all of
you young men and young women of this village I deeply apologize for my lack of
vigilance towards snakes like these elders, “
The paused
and bowed to the villagers before as well did the knights that were still
beside the king.
“The reason I
am so upset right now is that, I had decreed that any of the surviving family
member of that incident were to be compensated for their loss this would come
from the selling of the estate and various possessions the lord responsible
owned, after which that money would have been used to support the survivor, had
I’d known that there been only one survivor, I myself would have brought her to
be raised at the palace, but according to the report the elders gave there were
dozens of survivors and so, it was divided among though people or so it was supposed
to be the case…”
The king
takes a breath and then looks to the now gathered elders…
“Tell me
exactly who was it that, felt they needed the money more than this young girl….who
among you is responsible for writing the report I received…Hmmm….?” (Thomas)
The King
glared at the group of elders who then quickly pointed toward the head elder
who had regain consciousness.
“Like you
bastards weren’t in on it too you knew what I did and you jumped on board the
moment I mention the plan we were so close that money would’ve been ours we’d
have lived the good life until we’d die of old age, what I can’t understand is
how in the hell that little girl got to that dragon’s egg in the first… ” (H. elder)
As soon as
the Head elder mentioned it every villager turned to look at Jeff who had already
returned and seeing this the also realized that he too couldn’t understand how
such a young girl made it all the way to that spot in the woods while he had never
been near the spot before he knew that it was far from the village at least an
hour or more…
“I can help
you with that actually…” (Jeff)
Jeff spoke
up and told everyone what Henry had done and was planning to do, as it so
happened…
“Henry?! That
bastard of a grandson I told him to stay away from that girl!” (H. Elder)
It was the
head elders own grandson who had done him in. Trying to do something similar to
his grandfather…
“haa….the
apple doesn’t rot far from the tree I guess, or so they say. In this case it
rings true. I think I have heard enough for now, Phillips have 2 men go and
look for that Henry kid and bring him here considering he has already been
punish considerably by the dragon I’ll leave it to the villagers to deal with
him, as for Lily while she does have warmer clothing on now it is getting later
and the temperature is starting to go down I think we should get her inside
somewhere warm and familiar I think… Someone tell me where was the house her
parents lived in?” (Thomas)
The King
turned toward the villagers, but it was Jeff who offered to show him the way
and to carry Lily, but…
“Please
allow me to carry Lily, that is if it is alright with you Young dragon?”
(Thomas)
The looked
toward the dragon, after a moment the dragon nodded and then as the King picked
Lily up he was once again furious with the treatment of the young girl it felt
like had merely picked up a pile of clothes he looked to Jeff and Jeff just
hung his head down…
“Jeff, how
old is this girl she can’t be no more than 3 years of age right?” (Thomas)
“…….no Lily
is not 3 ……Lily is 5 , Lily turned 5 when the flower woke up
this year” (???)
To everyone’s
surprise the one who spoke was none other than Lily herself!
